Abu Dhabi Court Rejects AED 172,000 Loan Claim Over Inconsistent Testimony
The Abu Dhabi Court of First Instance has thrown out a claim for repayment of a AED 172,000 loan, citing contradictory statements from the plaintiff about how the money was handed over.
According to court records, the plaintiff sought to recover the sum he said he had lent to the defendant. However, his account of the transaction shifted during proceedings. Initially, he told the court that he had given the defendant the full amount in cash. Later, he stated that he had not actually handed over the money to the defendant at all.
Inconsistencies Undermine Case
The court noted that the plaintiff’s conflicting versions of events made it impossible to establish that the defendant had received the funds. As a result, the claim could not be sustained.
Plaintiff Ordered to Pay Costs
In addition to dismissing the lawsuit, the court ordered the plaintiff to cover all legal fees and expenses incurred during the case. The ruling underscores the importance of providing consistent and credible evidence in debt recovery claims.
