The short version

We collect very little. We do not sell your data, we do not build advertising profiles, and we only keep what the site needs to run safely and to answer you when you write to us. The rest of this page explains the details in plain words.

What do we collect when you just read?

Like any website, our servers record basic technical details when your browser asks for a page: your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, and your browser and device type. These server logs help us keep the site running, spot errors and fend off abuse. We keep them for a limited period and then they are deleted or anonymized.

What does Cloudflare do here?

We use Cloudflare as a content delivery and security service. It sits between you and our site, speeds up page delivery and filters out malicious traffic. To do this it processes your IP address and request details. Cloudflare may set security-related cookies for that purpose. Its own policies govern how it handles that data.

Do we use cookies or local storage?

Only for essentials and for your convenience. Where you choose a language, or tell us your situation or area so we can show you what is most relevant, we save that choice in your browser’s local storage. It stays on your device, and we do not use it to track you across other sites. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings, and the site will simply forget your preference.

Do we measure visits?

We may use privacy-friendly analytics that produce aggregate statistics, such as how many people read a page and which topics are popular. These figures are not used to identify you personally or to sell anything to anyone.

What happens to messages you send us?

If you use the contact form, we receive what you type, including any name or contact detail you choose to give. We use it only to read and respond to your message, to check a correction or to handle a request. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not pass your message to marketers.

Who else sees your data?

Only the service providers that help us host and protect the site, such as Cloudflare and our hosting provider, and only to the extent needed to do that job. We may disclose information if the law requires it. We do not sell personal data.

What are your rights?

Depending on where you live, data protection rules such as the EU GDPR, the UAE Personal Data Protection Law and the Saudi Personal Data Protection Law may give you rights over your personal data. These can include asking what we hold about you, asking us to correct or delete it, and objecting to certain uses. We try to respect the spirit of these rules, but we do not claim any certification or guarantee of compliance with them. To make a request, use the contact page. We may need to confirm who you are before we act.

How long do we keep things?

Server logs are kept briefly. Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to respond and to keep a record of corrections. Browser preferences stay on your device until you clear them.

Children

The site is written for adults and is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from them.

Will this page change?

Sometimes. When we change it, we update the date at the top. If you keep using the site after an update, you accept the new version.
