Convective Clouds Set to Bring Rain to Parts of UAE This Week
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has released an explainer on convective clouds as rain is expected to affect several areas of the UAE this week. Showers are forecast for Fujairah, Al Ain and Abu Dhabi during the afternoon, while humidity levels are set to climb to 90 percent overnight, raising the likelihood of fog in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
Cloud Formation Explained
In an educational video shared on the social media platform X, the NCM detailed the different shapes of clouds and what they indicate about the day’s weather conditions. The video highlighted convective clouds, which are known for producing rain, as the reason behind the upcoming precipitation.
Rain Forecast for Eastern and Southern Regions
The NCM’s forecast points to rain in Fujairah, Al Ain and Abu Dhabi later today. These areas are expected to experience showers as convective clouds develop and move across the region.
High Humidity and Fog Expected Overnight
Overnight, humidity is expected to reach up to 90 percent, creating conditions favourable for fog formation. The NCM warned that fog is likely in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, potentially affecting visibility in the early morning hours.
Residents are advised to stay updated on the latest weather alerts and drive carefully in areas where fog may reduce visibility.
