Dubai opens Al Ruwayyah winter camping season with new caravan and daily rental options
Season details
Registration opened on Monday, with the municipality saying the season would run from 1 November 2026 to 30 April 2027. The number of camps at Al Ruwayyah has risen by roughly 120 per cent to 600.
Plots are available in two sizes: standard 400-square-metre plots and double-sized plots of up to 800 square metres, which return for the new season.
For the first time, the site will include 50 dedicated caravan plots and 10 fully equipped camps available for daily rental. These options are aimed at visitors who want a desert stay without having to set up and equip their own camp.
Community hub and investment
Al Ruwayyah is also being developed as a community destination. Dubai Municipality has set aside 10 spaces for winter events, family gatherings, community programmes, recreational experiences and seasonal markets.
Investment opportunities have been reserved for small and medium-sized enterprises, allowing local entrepreneurs to offer food and beverage services, desert activities and recreational experiences to campers and visitors.
Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, said the season ‘marks an important step’ in developing Al Ruwayyah as an integrated winter destination. He added that the current improvements are a foundation for ‘more diverse experiences’ and stronger community connections in the years ahead.
Registration and rules
UAE nationals can register and reserve plots through the website wintercamp.dm.gov.ae or the DubaiNow app.
Seasonal reservations cover periods of three to six months. Caravan plots and fully equipped daily rental camps have separate booking options, subject to applicable requirements.
Seasonal permit holders may design and equip their camps as needed once permits are issued and plot boundaries are demarcated. Campers must follow approved regulations, including installing temporary fencing and using camps exclusively for family purposes and camping activities.
Spaces have also been allocated for participating government entities to set up their own camps.
