Dubai Police mourns pioneering officer who joined force at 15 in 1956
Dubai Police has paid tribute to Major General Khalifa bin Dha’en Al Muhairi, one of the force’s earliest members, who enlisted at the age of 15 in 1956 and was issued police number 8.
A pioneer’s start
Al Muhairi was among the first recruits to join Dubai Police in the year the force was established. At the beginning of his career, he earned less than 90 rupees per month. Over decades of service, he rose through the ranks to become a major general.
Dubai Police honoured his long service and achievements, particularly his time as head of Nad Al Sheba Police Station.
Decades of service
During his career, Al Muhairi served under the first three foreign commanders of Dubai Police before continuing under Emirati leadership. He witnessed the force’s evolution from its early days into a modern law enforcement institution.
He worked at several police posts and stations, including Zabeel Police Post and Nad Al Sheba Police Station, which he later led. He remained with Dubai Police until his retirement.
A legacy remembered
Al Muhairi belonged to the pioneering generation of Emirati officers who laid the foundations of Dubai Police and built its national workforce. His contemporaries included Khalifa Juma Al Nabooda, Issa Abdullah Bu Jumaid, Mohammed Ali Abu Frousha – known as “Bin Kalli” – and police officers Ali Hassan and Ahmed Mohammed Yousuf.
Dubai Police prayed for God to have mercy on Al Muhairi, to forgive him and to grant him a place in Paradise.
