Rain and hail strike parts of Fujairah and Sharjah under NCM weather alert
Rain and hail have been reported in parts of the UAE on Monday, according to updates from Dubai, with the National Centre of Meteorology warning of convective clouds, strong winds and blowing dust that could last until 9 pm.
Areas affected
Video clips shared by Storm Centre on X showed hail and rainfall in Murbad and Masafi in Fujairah, as well as rain between Al Madam and Murgham. Rain was also recorded in parts of Sharjah.
Details of the NCM alert
In an alert posted on X, the NCM said convective clouds could develop over eastern and southern areas, bringing rain and winds of up to 50 km/h. The alert runs from 2 pm to 9 pm on Monday, October 19, and the associated winds may lift dust and reduce visibility.
Additional wind warning
The NCM also warned that fresh north‑westerly winds could stir up dust and sand across coastal and inland zones, cutting horizontal visibility to less than 3,000 metres at times between 3 pm and 7 pm.
Safety advice
Residents are urged to take care when outdoors and to follow official safety instructions, especially in places experiencing rain, hail, strong winds or reduced visibility.
