Sheikh Hamdan attends MBRGI announcement of AED150 million support for UAE charitable organisations
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), attended the announcement of a AED150 million (US$40.8 million) allocation to bolster charitable and humanitarian organisations in the UAE.
Funding boost for humanitarian work
The allocation, announced by MBRGI, aims to strengthen the capacity of UAE-based charities to launch and expand impactful projects locally, regionally, and internationally. It is part of the initiative’s ongoing efforts to sustain the UAE’s tradition of giving and reinforce the nation’s status as a global hub for humanitarian action.
Sheikh Hamdan said: “Guided by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, MBRGI continues to provide all the necessary means to advance charitable and humanitarian work in the UAE.”
He noted that the new funding builds on MBRGI’s role in the UAE’s humanitarian landscape since its establishment in 2015, reflecting the initiative’s commitment to serving local community needs.
Partnership agreements signed
The financial support was announced during the signing of 11 partnership agreements by MBRGI, in the presence of Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Secretary-General of MBRGI.
The agreements were signed with the following organisations: Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, launched by the UAE in 2023 to support Palestinians in Gaza; Tarahum Charity Foundation; the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charitable Establishment; Emirates Health Services; the UAE Food Bank; Beit Al Khair Society; Dar Al Ber Society; Al Jalila Foundation; Fujairah Charity Association; Noor Dubai; and the Digital School.
MBRGI’s broader impact
MBRGI, described as the largest foundation of its kind in the region, committed over AED2.3 billion in 2025 to benefit approximately 165 million people across 122 countries. Its efforts are organised under five main pillars: Humanitarian Aid and Relief, Healthcare and Disease Control, Spreading Education and Knowledge, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Empowering Communities.
Launched in 2015, MBRGI brings together more than 30 initiatives and institutions sponsored by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum over more than 20 years. The foundation aims to foster a culture of hope, address pressing global challenges, and invest in human capital to empower vulnerable communities through education, combating poverty and disease, and promoting tolerance.
