Showers Sweep Masafi as NCM Warns of Gusty Winds and Dust

Rain fell in the eastern UAE town of Masafi on Saturday afternoon, 24 October, as the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) cautioned residents about further precipitation along with strong winds and blowing dust across parts of the country.

Showers Sweep Masafi as NCM Warns of Gusty Winds and Dust

Rainfall and Cloud Development

The NCM predicted the formation of convective clouds over scattered areas, particularly in the eastern and northern regions, where conditions remain favourable for rainfall.

Winds are expected to intensify around cloud formations, turning fresh to strong at times and capable of kicking up dust and sand at speeds of up to 45 kilometres per hour.

Alert Period and Precautions

The weather alert covers the period from 3.45 pm to 8 pm on Saturday, and the NCM has urged the public to exercise caution.

The rainfall in Masafi is part of a spell of unsettled weather affecting parts of the UAE, with cloud development and showers anticipated in some areas. The NCM’s broader forecast for Saturday also indicated a chance of rain over eastern and western areas in the afternoon, along with a possible drop in temperatures.

Overnight Humidity and Fog Risk

Humid conditions are expected overnight and into Sunday morning across some coastal and inland areas, with a chance of fog or mist forming.

Outlook for Coming Days

Further opportunities for rainfall are forecast over northern and eastern parts of the country in the coming days, accompanied by gusty winds that could stir up dust.
