UAE braces for five days of rain, dusty winds and fog, NCM says
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has warned that parts of the UAE may see rainfall over the next five days, as convective clouds form over eastern areas and later move to inland and western regions. Temperatures are expected to reach up to 42°C in some places.
Afternoon cloud formation and rain chances
According to the NCM, the weather will be fair to partly cloudy, with clouds building during the afternoon and increasing the likelihood of rain. Winds will be light to moderate but could become fresh to strong at times when clouds are active, stirring up dust and reducing visibility in exposed areas. Wind speeds are forecast to range between 10 and 25 km/h, reaching 40 km/h along the coast and up to 45 km/h inland and in mountainous areas.
Temperature and humidity outlook
Temperatures are expected to vary by region: inland areas will see highs between 37°C and 42°C, coastal and island areas between 35°C and 40°C, and mountainous regions between 28°C and 33°C. Humidity is forecast to increase overnight and into Friday morning, raising the possibility of fog or mist in some coastal and inland areas.
Seas in the Arabian Gulf will be slight to moderate at times, while the Oman Sea will remain slight.
Five-day forecast details
The NCM’s five-day outlook indicates that unsettled conditions could persist through Monday, with afternoon cloud development and possible rain in several parts of the country. On Friday, convective clouds are expected to develop over eastern areas during the afternoon, potentially bringing rain. Humidity will rise overnight, with fog or mist possible on Saturday morning.
Similar conditions are forecast for Saturday, with a chance of afternoon rain. Sunday could see showers in northern and eastern areas. By Monday, the possibility of rain is expected to shift towards eastern and southern regions, accompanied by partly cloudy skies.
Winds could reach 40 km/h at times over the four days, raising dust in affected areas. The Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea are expected to remain generally slight from Friday through Monday, according to the NCM’s latest weather bulletin.
