UAE Braces for Five Days of Rain, Gusty Winds and Morning Fog
The National Centre of Meteorology says the UAE could see five straight days of rain in some localities from Sunday 18 October to Thursday 22 October, with gusts reaching up to 50 km/h and early morning fog or mist.
Overall outlook
Convective clouds are likely to form over eastern areas on Sunday afternoon, bringing a chance of showers. The rain threat is then expected to spread to inland and western districts from Monday through Wednesday before moving farther west on Thursday.
Although conditions will be unsettled, the sky should stay mostly fair to partly cloudy throughout the period. Overnight and early‑morning humidity will rise, making fog or mist possible in coastal and inland zones.
Day‑by‑day details
Sunday will start humid in some coastal and inland places, with a modest chance of morning mist. Apart from that, the weather will stay fair to partly cloudy, while afternoon heating may trigger convective clouds over the east that could produce rain.
On Monday the shower potential widens beyond the east, as convective clouds develop in the afternoon and stretch across inland and western sectors. The day will begin with humid air and a chance of fog or mist near the coast and inland. Outside the cloud‑affected zones skies will remain fair to partly cloudy.
Tuesday mirrors Monday: early morning fog or mist may appear in coastal and inland areas, followed by afternoon convective clouds over the east that could extend into inland and western regions and bring rain.
Wednesday is forecast to begin with another humid morning and a chance of mist in some coastal and inland localities. Fair to partly cloudy conditions will dominate, although east‑based convective clouds could grow and spread inland and westward during the afternoon, possibly yielding showers.
Thursday sees the focus of convective activity shift westward, where afternoon showers may develop. The morning will again be humid with a chance of fog or mist in some coastal and inland spots, while southeasterly winds veer northwesterly.
Wind, dust and sea conditions
Winds will generally be light to moderate, ranging from 10 to 25 km/h, but they can strengthen markedly during cloud episodes, hitting 50 km/h from Sunday through Wednesday and occasionally 40 km/h on Thursday. Such gusts may lift dust in affected areas.
The sea state in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea is expected to stay slight throughout the five‑day window.
