UAE Tops Global Tax Rankings and Secures Third Place in 2026 Lifestyle Index
Overall Ranking and Scores
The United Arab Emirates has been placed third in the 2026 Nomad Capitalist Lifestyle Index, scoring 73.15 out of 100 points.
Monaco leads the ranking with 73.89 points, followed by Andorra with 73.68 points, leaving less than three‑quarters of a point between the top three destinations.
The index evaluated 63 locations worldwide and the UAE was the only Gulf country included.
Category Breakdown
The assessment consists of five equally weighted categories: nature and climate, taxation, residency and accessibility, safety and freedom, and quality of life and infrastructure.
The UAE’s strongest showing was in taxation, where it received 96 out of 100 and ranked first among all 63 destinations.
It placed fifth for quality of life and infrastructure with 72.6 points and seventh for residency and accessibility with 78.7 points.
In nature and climate the country came sixteenth with 59.7 points.
Expert Commentary
Khatia Gelbakhiani, Head of Product at Nomad Capitalist, noted that the gap between Monaco, Andorra and the UAE is less than three‑quarters of a point, putting the three in a tightly clustered group at the top.
She explained that Monaco leads in quality of life, Andorra in safety and freedom, and the UAE in taxation, adding that the ideal destination ultimately depends on individual priorities rather than the index alone.
Tax and Visa Factors
Nomad Capitalist attributes the UAE’s top tax score to its tax framework, which levies no personal income tax or capital gains tax and applies a federal corporate tax rate of nine percent, introduced in June 2023.
The strong residency and accessibility rating reflects the expansion of the 10‑year Golden Visa programme, which since 2022 has been open to investors, skilled professionals, talented individuals and entrepreneurs.
