Dubai Police Engage 5,000 Filipino Residents at Al Rigga Night Market in Community Outreach
Dubai Police have reached out to approximately 5,000 members of the Filipino community during the opening of Al Rigga Night Market, blending social interaction with practical safety advice on cybersecurity, road safety and crime prevention.
The initiative was organised by Dubai Police’s Positive Spirit Council in collaboration with the General Department of Police Stations, represented by Al Muraqqabat Police Station, together with strategic partners.
The gathering gave officers a direct channel to engage with Filipino residents, share essential safety information and reinforce ties with one of the emirate’s most diverse communities.
Cybersecurity awareness for the Filipino community
Marking Cybersecurity Awareness Month, which is observed each October, the Positive Spirit Council team ran awareness sessions that outlined common cybercrime tactics, including online scams, phishing, fraudulent links and identity theft through social media and mobile apps.
Attendees received advice on safeguarding personal data and bank accounts, identifying suspicious messages and avoiding the disclosure of passwords, confidential details or one-time verification codes.
The team underscored the need to verify the legitimacy of online communications before replying or clicking on any links.
Community members were also introduced to official channels for reporting cybercrime and online fraud, helping them recognise potential threats and take appropriate steps.
Road safety and crime prevention guidance
Alongside digital safety, Dubai Police offered guidance on personal security, crime prevention and responsible behaviour.
The sessions highlighted the importance of complying with UAE laws and regulations, adopting positive practices and avoiding conduct that could endanger individuals or others.
Road safety messages focused particularly on the dangers of crossing roads in unsafe places and the need to follow traffic signs and rules to protect lives and property.
Linking residents with police services
The Positive Spirit Council team also familiarised visitors with Dubai Police’s security, community and smart services, explaining how residents can access assistance and communicate with the force through official channels.
The activities aimed to improve understanding of police services among community members while encouraging cooperation, trust and shared responsibility for public safety.
Fatima Ahmad Bohjair, Chairperson of the Positive Spirit Council at Dubai Police, said joining the Filipino community at Al Rigga Night Market reflects Dubai Police’s commitment to strengthening community partnerships and building closer relations with residents of different nationalities.
She explained that meeting people at popular gathering spots creates valuable opportunities to deliver practical awareness messages and reinforce the idea that maintaining community safety is a shared responsibility.
Bohjair praised the enthusiastic response and positive engagement shown by Filipino community members during the event.
She reaffirmed the council’s commitment to continuing its awareness and community programmes in cooperation with police stations and strategic partners.
Such initiatives, she added, contribute to improving quality of life and reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global model for safety, tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
