Sharjah Authority and Medcare Partner to Offer Discounted Healthcare for Government Staff and Families
Sharjah government employees and their families are set to benefit from reduced private healthcare costs under a new agreement between the Sharjah Health Authority (SHA) and Medcare Hospitals and Medical Centres. The partnership, announced by SHA, aims to make advanced medical services more affordable and accessible across the emirate.
Coverage and Beneficiaries
The collaboration extends to senior government workers and their relatives aged 65 and above, as well as People of Determination. Special benefits are also available for uninsured residents with disabilities, who can access discounted services without needing health insurance. The initiative targets elderly individuals, persons with disabilities, and other community members who often face barriers to private healthcare.
Dr Abdul Aziz Saeed Al Mheiri, Chairman of SHA, said: “We are pleased to associate with Medcare Hospitals and Medical Centres to bring the most advanced and premium healthcare facilities to the Sharjah government employees with additional benefits.” He added that the partnership aligns with SHA’s strategy to improve health benefits, especially for the elderly, under the directive of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
Services and Facilities
Beneficiaries can receive discounted rates across a broad range of medical services, including home healthcare options such as doctor-on-call consultations, home physiotherapy, short-term nursing care, wound care, injections, and specialised IV therapy treatments delivered at home. These services are available at four Medcare locations in Sharjah: Medcare Hospital King Faisal Road, Medcare Hospital Shaikh Saqr Al Qasimi Street, Medcare Medical Centre Al Taawun, and Medcare Medical Centre Al Zahia.
Commitment to Inclusive Care
Alisha Moopen, Managing Director and Group CEO of Aster DM Healthcare, said: “Sharjah has been an integral part of our group’s journey in the UAE, and we are proud to deepen our partnership with the SHA through this MoU.” She emphasised the shared commitment to advancing healthcare standards and improving access to quality, patient-centred care for Sharjah government employees via Medcare’s trusted network.
Dr Shanila Laiju, CEO of Medcare Hospitals and Medical Centres, stated: “At Medcare Hospitals and Medical Centres, we believe that meaningful partnerships are essential to building a stronger, more inclusive healthcare ecosystem. Our MoU with SHA reflects our shared commitment to enhancing access to quality healthcare, strengthening collaboration across the sector, and ensuring that the community benefits from patient centred, high-quality medical services.” She expressed eagerness to support Sharjah’s vision for a healthier community and continued excellence in healthcare.
SHA described the partnership as a reflection of its dedication to fostering robust public‑private cooperation. Together, the two entities said they will work to broaden availability of diverse medical services at reduced rates, fostering a more equitable and accessible healthcare environment for the emirate’s population.
