Dubai Police unveils floating Yangwang U8 SUV for tourist patrol fleet at WETEX 2026
Dubai Police has added the Yangwang U8, a high-performance electric SUV that can float on water and rotate 360 degrees on the spot, to its luxury tourist patrol fleet. The vehicle, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and producing 1,197 horsepower, was unveiled at the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2026) at Dubai World Trade Centre.
Emergency flotation and advanced manoeuvring
Among the Yangwang U8’s most distinctive features is its emergency flotation capability, designed to keep the vehicle afloat and allow it to move through water during emergencies and flooding. The SUV can also perform a complete 360-degree rotation without moving forwards or backwards, demonstrating its advanced manoeuvring technology. Combined with its rapid acceleration and high power output, these capabilities make the Yangwang U8 a striking addition to the force’s fleet.
Police visibility at key attractions
Brigadier Saeed Al Hajri, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation at Dubai Police, officially unveiled the new patrol and welcomed continued cooperation with Al-Futtaim Automotive Group, the exclusive distributor of Yangwang vehicles in the UAE. He explained that the vehicle will help strengthen police visibility and engagement at some of Dubai’s best-known attractions, including Burj Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard and Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR). Rather than serving solely as a patrol vehicle, the Yangwang U8 will also provide a point of contact between officers and the public, allowing tourists and residents to seek assistance, obtain information and learn more about Dubai Police’s community services.
Modernisation and sustainability goals
Brigadier Al Hajri said the addition reflects the force’s commitment to modernising its fleet through advanced automotive technologies and environmentally friendly mobility solutions. The introduction of the Yangwang U8 forms part of Dubai Police’s wider efforts to incorporate electric-powered vehicles into its operations while enhancing the experience of visitors to the city. He emphasised that partnerships with automotive companies support the adoption of modern technologies and help Dubai Police maintain a contemporary fleet suited to the city’s evolving needs.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by Brigadier Ali Mohammad Faraj Al Muhairi, Pilot Instructor and Director of the General Department of Transport and Rescue; Colonel Mohammad Abdulrahman Abdulwahid, Director of the Tourist Police Department; and Colonel Anwar Al Nimer, Director of the Force Vehicles Department. Also present were Yousuf Raisi, Director of Government Affairs and Health, Safety, Security and Environment at Al-Futtaim Automotive Group in the UAE, and several Dubai Police officers.
