Storm_centre Observations

The Storm_centre message on X described hail striking the Margham area of Dubai during the afternoon of Sunday. It also noted rainfall along Khor Fakkan Road and in the Al Ajili locality, which lies east of Shuka within the Eastern Region.

NCM Weather Alerts

The National Centre of Meteorology also issued a flash flood alert for certain mountainous districts. This came alongside yellow and orange weather warnings for various parts of the country, which the NCM said were linked to convective clouds capable of producing hazardous conditions until 7 pm. The advisory, released at 3:38 pm on 18 October, told residents in yellow‑zoned areas to exercise caution and stay alert to changing weather, while those under orange were advised to remain prepared and follow safety directions from the relevant authorities. The warning period runs from 2 pm to 7 pm and focuses on the eastern and southern sectors of the UAE, notably the mountainous terrain near Fujairah and Al Ain. According to the centre’s colour guide, yellow signifies a need for caution because of possible hazardous weather, whereas orange denotes a higher risk level that calls for increased vigilance.

Public Safety Guidance

The NCM repeated its call for the public to exercise caution when it rains and to keep clear of areas known to flash‑flood. It also advised everyone to rely on official weather updates and to remain careful until the alerts lapse at 7 pm. The original Storm_centre post added a note encouraging readers to download the Gulf News app in order to receive updates more quickly.
