NCM issues yellow and orange weather alerts for UAE until 7 pm on Sunday
The National Centre of Meteorology has issued yellow and orange weather alerts for parts of the United Arab Emirates, warning of potentially hazardous conditions linked to convective clouds that are expected to persist until 7 pm on Sunday.
Alert details and timing
The advisory was released at 3:38 pm on October 18. It covers the period from 2 pm to 7 pm and urges residents in yellow‑alert zones to exercise caution and stay alert to changing weather, while those under orange alerts are advised to remain prepared and follow safety instructions from the relevant authorities.
Areas under warning
The warnings apply to the eastern and southern parts of the UAE, including mountainous regions near Fujairah and Al Ain. Yellow alerts indicate where caution is required because of potentially hazardous weather, and orange alerts signal a higher level of risk demanding increased vigilance.
Public safety guidance
The NCM notes that the alerts are tied to the formation of convective clouds, which can bring rapidly changing conditions. The centre urges the public to follow official weather updates and to exercise caution in the affected areas until the alerts expire at 7 pm.
