Deepening strategic ties

Sheikh Maktoum welcomed Mr Wong and underscored the long-standing friendship and cooperation between the two nations. He reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to forging strategic partnerships rooted in constructive collaboration. The discussions also highlighted opportunities emerging from global economic shifts that could support sustainable development, investment and trade.

Both sides explored ways to enhance cooperation in several key sectors, including financial services, logistics, technology and the digital economy. The meeting emphasised the strengths of Dubai and Singapore as international hubs for commerce, finance and business, and their shared focus on innovation, investment and future-oriented industries. These attributes, officials said, reinforce their roles in linking markets, easing trade and capital flows, and creating fresh avenues for economic collaboration.

Broadening engagement across sectors

The two sides also discussed leveraging their respective expertise and capabilities to strengthen economic ties and expand collaboration between government institutions and business communities. The UAE and Singapore have maintained steadily growing relations over the years. The signing of a Comprehensive Partnership in 2019 marked a significant milestone, providing a broader framework for cooperation across multiple sectors and opening new opportunities to advance common economic and development goals.

The meeting was attended by several senior UAE officials: Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs; Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism; Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications; Saeed Al Hajeri, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Essa Kazim, Governor of the Dubai International Financial Centre; and Dr Abdulnasser Alshaali, UAE Ambassador to Singapore. The Singaporean delegation accompanying Prime Minister Wong also participated.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, was also present at the meeting.
