UAE Braces for Rain, Dust and Strong Winds as NCM Issues Weather Alert
Overview
Parts of the UAE may see rain on Tuesday as strong winds reaching 60 kilometres per hour sweep across mountainous areas, raising dust and potentially lowering visibility, according to the National Centre of Meteorology.
The NCM’s latest bulletin notes that rain chances persist through Thursday, with winds already hitting 60km/h today.
Fair to partly cloudy skies are expected, with convective clouds forming over eastern regions and spreading toward inland and western zones during the afternoon, which could bring isolated showers.
Detailed Forecast
The unsettled weather stems from an extension of a surface low-pressure system combined with an upper-air low-pressure system.
Winds will start light to moderate, then become fresh to strong at times, especially when cloud activity increases, leading to blowing dust.
In mountainous districts wind speeds may reach 60km/h, inland areas around 50km/h, and coastal zones and islands about 35km/h.
Temperatures are forecast to climb to 40°C in interior locations, while coastal regions and islands will see highs between 34°C and 38°C, and mountainous areas will range from 28°C to 33°C.
Humidity is set to rise overnight and into Wednesday morning, with mist possible in some coastal and inland localities.
The NCM says the unsettled pattern will continue on Wednesday, with convective clouds developing over eastern areas and extending toward inland and western districts during the afternoon, accompanied by possible rainfall.
Winds could reach 50km/h on Wednesday, stirring up dust, and humid night-time conditions may produce mist in certain coastal and inland spots.
On Thursday, partly cloudy conditions will remain, with convective clouds forming over eastern and western areas in the afternoon, potentially delivering further rain.
Wind speeds may reach 40km/h, accompanied by blowing dust.
Weekend Outlook
Friday is expected to be generally fair to partly cloudy, with clouds developing over eastern areas; some of these may become convective during the afternoon.
Humidity will rise overnight, and fog or mist could appear over certain western coastal areas early on Saturday.
By Saturday temperatures are projected to decline gradually, with clouds appearing over eastern and northern parts of the country.
Winds will reach 35km/h on both Friday and Saturday, while mist may form in some coastal and inland areas early on Sunday.
Sea conditions will stay slight in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman through Thursday, becoming slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf on Friday and Saturday.
