UAE tax authority launches world’s first AI-driven digital platform for tourist refunds
The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has introduced what it describes as the world’s first-of-its-kind artificial intelligence-powered digital platform for processing tourist tax refunds, promising the fastest and fully paperless experience for visitors.
Instant, paperless refunds
The new smart platform enables tourists to claim their value-added tax refunds through entirely digital procedures, eliminating the need for any paper documentation. The FTA said the system delivers the quickest tax refund experience globally for travellers, with the entire process conducted online.
Part of a broader digital push
The launch is part of the FTA’s strategy to expand the adoption of artificial intelligence technologies, continuously improve the efficiency of its operational systems, and advance its initiatives under the Digital Zero Bureaucracy Programme. The authority noted that the platform aligns with its ongoing efforts to automate and streamline government services for residents and visitors alike.
The FTA did not specify an exact date for the platform’s rollout but confirmed it is now live and available to tourists making purchases from participating retailers across the UAE.
