G42 enters landmark AI collaboration with Greek government and private entities
Agreements signed during UAE visit to Athens
Abu Dhabi-based technology group G42 has signed multiple agreements with Greek government bodies and private-sector organisations to explore the development of artificial intelligence infrastructure and services in Greece. The deals were concluded during an official UAE visit to Athens on Friday and are intended to broaden bilateral cooperation in sectors such as healthcare, education, government services and smart cities.
Under the pacts, G42 and five of its subsidiaries will work alongside Greek partners to identify projects that can help businesses and public-sector organisations adopt AI at a greater scale. The collaborations span infrastructure, public safety, education and medical research.
Data centre and AI factory plans
A key agreement with Greece’s Copelouzos Group will see G42 companies Khazna Data Centers and Core42 explore the development of an AI factory in Greece. The proposed facility is designed to combine advanced data centres with cloud computing and AI technologies to serve industries such as banking, telecommunications, shipping and government services. Khazna will be responsible for building the physical infrastructure, while Core42 will deliver the cloud and computing capabilities.
Mansoor Al Mansoori, chief executive of G42 International, said the agreements “will help strengthen technological cooperation between the UAE and Greece”. He added that the projects would be developed in line with European regulations and standards.
AI for public services, education and healthcare
In parallel, G42 company Presight will work with Greece’s Ministry of Digital Governance to examine how AI can improve public safety and city management. The initial focus is on using AI to support waste management and monitor water networks. The collaboration will also explore technologies that could enhance public transport safety and enable authorities to respond more effectively to urban challenges.
Inception42 will investigate introducing AI-powered tools to support government operations and education in Greece. These could include systems that help officials track government priorities, support cabinet meetings and streamline administrative tasks. The partnership will also assess AI tutors and learning platforms for students, alongside training programmes to help government employees use AI technologies.
Meanwhile, G42’s healthcare arm M42 has signed an agreement with Athens LifeTech Park to explore cooperation in medical research and biotechnology. The partnership will focus on areas such as cancer, rare genetic diseases, neuroscience and genomic research. It will also open pathways for UAE healthcare start-ups to enter European markets, while enabling Greek and European companies to explore opportunities in the UAE.
Dimitris Moulavasilis, group chief executive of M42, said the collaboration would “connect Abu Dhabi’s healthcare and technology capabilities with Greece’s scientific expertise”.
G42 described the agreements as an initial step, with the companies and government organisations expected to determine the scope and timelines of the proposed projects. Implementation will depend on further agreements and necessary regulatory approvals. The partnerships form part of growing economic and technological ties between the UAE and Greece.
