UAE-Greece forum seals €12.75bn in deals, new investment pledge
The UAE-Greece Strategic Forum convened in Athens on Thursday, bringing together senior officials, business leaders and investors from both countries during the official visit of Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, to the Hellenic Republic. Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis attended the gathering, which aimed to advance bilateral trade and investment cooperation.
Deals and investment commitments
Eighteen memoranda of understanding, agreements and commercial partnerships were signed between Emirati and Greek entities at the forum, with a combined value exceeding €12.75 billion. The pacts target priority sectors such as digital infrastructure, advanced technology, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, clean-energy infrastructure, industry, logistics, transport and ports, healthcare, life sciences and food security.
The UAE also announced its intention to invest an additional €15 billion in Greece through a joint investment initiative, underscoring deepening bilateral cooperation. The initiative is designed to support the long-term economic and investment partnership and expand collaboration across strategically important sectors.
Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, the UAE Minister of Foreign Trade, was among participants alongside Haris Theoharis, Greece’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Dimitris Skalkos, Secretary General for International Economic Relations at the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Enterprise Greece. Representatives of private sector entities and chambers of commerce from both countries also took part.
Official remarks on partnership potential
Al Zeyoudi said the strategic partnership between the UAE and Greece continues to gain strength under the guidance of both countries’ leadership, creating new prospects for trade, investment and sustainable growth. He noted that the 17 agreements and commercial partnerships signed during the forum, together with the UAE’s pledge of an extra €15 billion investment through the joint initiative, demonstrate growing confidence in the partnership’s long-term potential. Their priority, he added, is to translate this momentum into productive projects, high-quality investment and lasting economic value for both nations.
Al Zeyoudi also highlighted that global trade, logistics networks and supply chains are evolving rapidly, increasing the value of partnerships that combine complementary capabilities with access to strategic markets. The UAE serves as a global platform for trade, investment and connectivity, while Greece provides an important gateway to Europe. By linking these strengths, he said, companies from both countries can expand across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia and strengthen their participation in global value chains.
He stressed the importance of building on progress already achieved by expanding bilateral trade and investment and improving access to new markets for Emirati and Greek firms. The private sector, he emphasised, will play a central role in converting opportunities into productive investment, successful partnerships, skilled employment and sustainable economic growth.
Forum programme and outcomes
The UAE-Greece Strategic Forum featured a programme designed to deepen engagement between business leaders and investors. Two panel discussions focused on strengthening food security through resilient supply chains and building partnerships in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. Discussions centred on priority sectors where the two countries have complementary strengths, and participants examined ways to enhance the resilience of food supply chains while exploring opportunities in AI, emerging technologies and energy.
The forum also included investment-matching sessions and business-to-business meetings, enabling companies and institutions from both sides to identify opportunities and develop new commercial and investment partnerships. The memoranda of understanding, agreements and commercial partnerships announced during the event are expected to support continued growth in bilateral trade and investment and establish new foundations for cooperation in priority and future-focused sectors. The gathering reflected the growing momentum in UAE-Greece economic relations and the shared commitment to a private sector-led partnership centred on practical outcomes, long-term growth and mutual prosperity.
