Abu Dhabi has unveiled Team Dalma, a new professional padel team set to debut in the Hexagon World Series 2027. The squad features world No.1 players Agustín Tapia and Arturo Coello on the men’s side, alongside Sofia Araújo and Giulia Dal Pozzo on the women’s side.

Abu Dhabi introduces Team Dalma for Hexagon World Series 2027 with world No.1 padel stars

Team name rooted in history

The team takes its name from Dalma Island, one of the UAE’s oldest inhabited locations. Archaeological evidence indicates human settlement there for more than 7,000 years, and the island once served as a significant centre for the pearl trade. The Hexagon World Series is the first official professional team padel circuit operated under the International Padel Federation (FIP), with Abu Dhabi included as one of its international stops.

Men’s world No.1 duo

The men’s pairing brings together Argentina’s Agustín Tapia and Spain’s Arturo Coello, both currently ranked world No.1 by the FIP. Tapia has accumulated 65 titles across major professional circuits, while Coello, the youngest player ever to reach world No.1 in padel, has 58 titles. The duo is familiar with success in Abu Dhabi: in 2023, they won the World Padel Tour Modon Abu Dhabi Master in the first tournament they ever played together.

Women’s new partnership

On the women’s side, Portugal’s Sofia Araújo and Italy’s Giulia Dal Pozzo will compete together for the first time. Araújo has achieved a career-high ranking of world No.6 and has won four titles, three of which came on the Premier Padel tour. Dal Pozzo made history in 2026 by becoming the first Italian woman to reach the semi-finals of a Premier Padel Major.

Finale in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi will host the Hexagon World Series finale, organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi in partnership with the FIP. According to organisers, the finale will offer an elite sporting experience for residents, fans and players. They also stated it will help expand the local padel community, support emerging talent, and encourage players of all backgrounds and abilities to connect with the international padel scene.
