Abu Dhabi court fines amusement park, orders compensation for girl’s leg fractures
A court in Abu Dhabi has ruled that an amusement park company must pay Dh25,000 in compensation to the family of a six-year-old girl who sustained leg fractures in an accident caused by the firm’s negligence. In a separate criminal case, the company was also fined Dh30,000.
Negligence and safety failures
The court determined that the company’s lack of proper safety precautions and general negligence directly led to the child’s injuries. The ruling highlighted that the company had failed to maintain adequate safety standards at its facility, resulting in the girl’s fractured legs.
Compensation and moral damages
Beyond the physical harm, the court recognised the emotional toll on both the child and her father. It stated that the company’s negligence had compromised the girl’s physical integrity and caused significant moral damage, including pain, sorrow and grief for the family. The Dh25,000 compensation award is intended to address these harms.
The fine of Dh30,000 was imposed as part of the criminal proceedings, underscoring the seriousness with which the court viewed the safety lapses. No further details about the identity of the company or the exact circumstances of the accident were disclosed in the ruling.
