RTA equips Mahboub virtual assistant with Agentic AI for streamlined vehicle services

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has enhanced its virtual assistant Mahboub with Agentic AI technology, aiming to simplify the customer journey and allow users to complete multiple services in a single conversation. The upgraded version is being readied for public launch as part of the RTA’s Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2030.

How Agentic AI works

Mahboub now uses Agentic AI to coordinate and execute services that involve interconnected steps, in addition to the information and services it already provides. Depending on each customer’s request, the system activates a specialised Agentic AI agent to handle the required procedures. For example, a user can pay vehicle fines and then renew vehicle registration in one seamless interaction.

The system allows customers to complete these procedures within a single conversation. The process includes identity verification via the UAE PASS digital identity platform and payment through the Dubai Sadad system.

Services covered

The initial scope of the upgrade focuses on vehicle licensing services. These include vehicle registration renewal, payment of vehicle fines, issuance of a clearance certificate, and renewal of number plate reservations. Mahboub supports both Arabic and English, with language models fine-tuned to suit the local context.

Benefits and rollout

Mahboub aims to reduce the need for customers to switch between pages and channels, as well as the number of steps required to complete transactions. It is also expected to cut the time and effort involved in accessing services. Development is being carried out in line with the RTA’s established governance and cybersecurity procedures.

The enhancement reflects the RTA’s drive to develop leading, customer-centric digital services and to reinforce Dubai’s position as a global leader in trusted, smart government services.
