New pedestrian bridge links Etihad Rail station with Dubai Metro at Jumeirah Golf Estates
New pedestrian bridge opens
Etihad Rail announced via its official Instagram account that a pedestrian bridge will open on Thursday, October 15, providing a direct walkway between Al Yalayis railway station and Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station on the Dubai Metro Red Line.
Details of the bridge and its location
The structure is approximately 400 metres long and connects Etihad Rail’s Al Yalayis station with the Jumeirah Golf Estates stop, allowing passengers to move between the inter‑emirate rail service and the Metro on foot.
Benefits for travellers
Etihad Rail passengers arriving in Dubai by train will gain immediate access to the wider Metro network, reaching key commercial, residential and tourist sites across the city without needing a taxi or bus. Likewise, commuters from other parts of Dubai can take the Metro to Jumeirah Golf Estates and walk to the rail station to board their trains. The link is especially useful for those travelling without a private vehicle, removing the need for a separate road transfer between the two facilities.
Connection to existing rail and bus services
Etihad Rail launched passenger operations on September 30, linking Dubai’s Al Yalayis station with Abu Dhabi’s Mohammed Bin Zayed City station and other points on the network. The Dubai–Abu Dhabi trip lasts about one hour, with Comfort Class fares starting at Dh39. Since the service began, travellers to Al Yalayis have also been able to use the RTA’s F38 feeder bus, which runs from Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station to surrounding areas such as Dubai Production City and Dubai Sports City.
Ticketing options and expected impact
Passengers can buy a Dubai public transport nol day pass when reserving an Etihad Rail journey, granting unlimited travel on eligible RTA Metro, Tram and bus services for the pass’s validity period. The new footbridge adds a direct walking connection between the two transport networks and is expected to make rail travel more convenient for commuters and visitors, strengthening ties between inter‑emirate train services and Dubai’s existing public transport system.
